Just two weeks ago I was in Texas with the Foodspotting team tearing the meat off the bones on this plate and drowning them in barbecue sauce at the famous Salt Lick…
Afterward, my coworker Chris and I hopped on a party bus outfitted with a karaoke machine, Christmas lights and feather boas back to Austin. Meanwhile, champion eater Kobayashi napped in the back of the bus on an elevated platform that looked like a canopy bed. It was one of the weirder experiences I’ve had in my life.
Earlier this month, the Foodspotting team reunited in Austin, Texas for our third annual SXSW Street Food Fest which drew 5,000 attendees despite the rainy weather! Check out the recap and pics from our food truck extravaganza.

On Her Wedding Day
I’m in Dallas this weekend for my friends’ wedding. (The groom is old friends with my boyfriend, which explains why I haven’t mentioned Their Big Day until now.) Returning to my hotel room from the gym, I caught a glimpse of Kimberly, the bride, having her photo taken on the grand staircase.
She looks so lovely and happy. It takes my breath away.
The smaller the town, the more passionate locals are about their hometown offerings. Take Buzzie’s in Kerrville, Texas, which I had the privilege to visit when visiting my boyfriend’s family over the Christmas holiday. The bare-bones establishment and fluorescent lighting doesn’t warrant the smoke joint any decor accolades, but the memory of Buzzie’s moist brisket had me running to Hill Country in New York City today.
I don’t often order ribs, but I took the time to photograph (and steal bites of) Jason’s.
Should you find yourself in the neighborhood…
