Now You Sea It, Now You Don’t
A month or so ago, I was invited to become an editor as part of Tumblr’s new curating program, the results of which you can check out via the Explore link at the top of your dashboard. I assumed there were plenty of food-related Tumblrs and posts out there, but it wasn’t until I began exploring “Everything” did I begin to digest the breadth of it.
Between those blogs which rampantly reblog pics taken from flickr, thrilld, and Martha Stewart, to name a few, I discovered gems with great original content, like I Eat Butter, Denise Kay Photo, and Bottle Music. Sadly, original food content on Tumblr seems few and far between, which makes me wonder whether this is where online content is going: More curators, fewer creators…
Above you’ll see the most tantalizing bite of seafood I’ve ever had before I tucked it in my mouth last week. The memory of the uni’s fresh ocean taste will stay with me for a while, but I took about two minutes and ten photos of this guy to get the perfect shot.
You know that phrase impatient people say to make you feel bad about taking photos? “Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” It’s one thing to say you had a remarkable food experience. It’s another to show it. So, take the time to take a picture. It will last longer.
NOTE: I had been invited to 15 East to participate in a live lobster tasting and video taping with Zagat Survey. You can check out that video here.
