dessert for last debate
Watched the last presidential debate with friends tonight and introduced them to Graeters ice cream from Cincinnati, Ohio. This stuff is so. freaking. good.
New life goal: Meet the person at Graeters who decided… We shall add chocolate chips to all our flavors! And thank her or him.
Early Sunday morning, I arrived in Parma in Italy on a sponsored trip to tour and experience the city from which prosciutto, also known as Parma ham, originated.
Here I was trying to combat jet-lag with some window shopping near the city center.
peaches & cream
Vanilla bean Häagen-Dazs and macerated peaches… the cherry on top of an excellent Lebanese meal by Chris paired with Viña Ardanza 2001 Rioja wine brought over by my friend Clare who just left her sommelier job at a fancy restaurant in the city.
bostock for breakfast
Ordered the bostock at Four Barrel with a latte. It’s an almond syrup soaked brioche, but this one is a citrus version with hazelnuts on top. The Kitchn says it’s better than French toast, but I don’t think they’re similar enough to compare. One is drenched in egg and this is an almond pastry. Still, if you cross paths with a bostock (what an odd name…) and are obsessed with almond anything like I am, I recommend you get it.

Homemade parfait with maple syrup whipped cream, Liberte yogurt, strawberries & crushed chocolate donut from Peter Pan Donut in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I moved to the neighborhood about a month ago and soon realized I live only a five minute walk away from Peter Pan. It’s not a problem… yet.
Staying in on 11/11/11 to watch the last Harry Potter movie with Soraya and thinking about the fresh beignets I had just a week ago at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans…

last day in san francisco
Made a second pilgrimage to Tartine earlier today for ham and cheese croque monsieur, shortbread and ice coffee. I was eyeing these rocher with cocoa nibs while waiting in line for twenty minutes. Didn’t get them though! One more thing to look forward to on my next trip to San Francisco…

Dreamy fig and mascarpone crostata at tonight’s SWFF dinner. On my third glass of Lambrusco and reviving my personal mission to try everything/make sure no food goes to waste tonight.
Lambrusco by Dolce Rosato from Cantina Puianello, which I believe is a region in Italy. Tastes like bubbly black cherry and raspberry juice - delicious.
