tuesday is election day
Despite the many issues we disagree on and things we haven’t gotten right yet, I feel incredibly lucky to be an American, and the right to vote remains a huge privilege for every one of us.
We’re lucky to live in neighborhoods which we expect policy makers and police to keep safe; to freely access information from news sources and social networks; to ask our kids (or our friends’ kids) “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and react to any answer with a straight face.
Please make the time to vote tomorrow! You can look up your polling place here.

Hello friends, sister, cousins, good people. Just writing to say - please support President Obama this election year. Mitt Romney is outspending him in advertising in many key states where we need votes. (Ze electoral map here.)
If you’d like to volunteer with me and Nicole, let us know! Occasionally, we’ll hop on a bus to Pennsylvania to knock on doors, old-timey style, to meet our neighbors, encourage them to vote and to remind them to register to vote. (Being a registered voter is especially important in states like PA where voting laws were recently changed. Now, voters must be registered and bring valid ID to the polls in November.)
Other ways you can support: Sign up at BarackObama.com to keep up-to-date on election happenings, make a small donation ($5 goes a long way, especially if you can get a few friends to donate their latte money too…) and come to Chris’s and my Housewarming / Support Obama Party in October.
I hope you all have a lover-ly Labor Day! And thank you for mobilizing any way you can. Every step - no matter how seemingly small - counts, even if it’s just forwarding this post or reminding your relatives in Ohio and Pennsylvania to vote on November 6th.
