I like stickers.
tuesday is election day
Despite the many issues we disagree on and things we haven’t gotten right yet, I feel incredibly lucky to be an American, and the right to vote remains a huge privilege for every one of us.
We’re lucky to live in neighborhoods which we expect policy makers and police to keep safe; to freely access information from news sources and social networks; to ask our kids (or our friends’ kids) “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and react to any answer with a straight face.
Please make the time to vote tomorrow! You can look up your polling place here.

This is Tumblr at its best. Tumblr founder David Karp registering to vote captured through the lens of star Tumblr blogger and Cinemagraph co-creator Jamie Beck. Check out the voter registration deadline for your state. New Yorkers, be sure to register by October 12, 2012!
Just registered to vote for the first time
Yes — I’m 26, and this will be my first time voting.
I’ve made plenty of excuses over the years — usually that I don’t have stamps — but I’m getting my shit together.
Our brush with the political process kicked me into gear this year. It was empowering and enlightening to fight alongside politicians that, in fact, represented us.
Looking forward to November. :)
THE FACTS:
- You’ll find easy instructions on ourtime.org.

- People of the gender you’re interested in
are interested in people who vote.
Bourdain’s No Reservations twitter feed not far behind. I took a picture; they last longer. Shorty Awards a.k.a. “Twitter Oscars” Round One ends tomorrow. Please vote. Each one counts!
Yesterday, I skimmed the “Twitter Oscars” a.k.a. SHORTY AWARDS and realized I was behind the Disney Food Blog by only 30 votes.
I began with two votes yesterday and am inching into ninth place(!) tonight. Voting ends on Friday and I’m campaigning with all my might to ease Chef John, the seasoned video food blogger, out of his place in fifth. The top five twitter nominees continue to Round 2 where their tweets - and use of twitter - is reviewed by judges to see who makes the most of 140 characters. I won’t win a popularity contest against Tyler Florence but there’s a lack of young, non-celebrity food enthusiasts in the top five so I need to try with my PR team of one.
Last week, I found creme brulee in the fridge. It took a year of wishful thinking, but Jason was bored one night and did that “SURPRISE!” thing Disney movie characters do.
To my friends with twitter accounts, please vote for a girl with no kitchen know-how, but serious microwaving skills and more enthusiasm than you can shake a spatula at. You’d be surprised what positive thoughts can do. Thank you! http://shortyawards.com/amyblogschow
